Cengiz Karatas

Cengiz Karatas

Mr. Cengiz Karatas taught in schools in Russia (1996-2004). He worked as a guidance counselor, dean of academics (2005-2007), and school principal (2007-2010) at Horizon Science Academy Cleveland High School (HSA). During his tenure, HSA received a rating of excellent and the School of Promise Award from the Ohio Department of Education, bronze medals from U.S. News and World Report, the National Blue Ribbon Award, and the Title I National School of Distinction Recognition from the U.S. Department of Education. He was the founding director of Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis (2010-2011). Mr. Karatas was the Organizing Committee Chair of the Chicago International Conference on Education and the National STEM Conference (2012-2015) at Concept Schools, where he also established the Future Institute and served as the executive director (2016-2022) to support high school graduates and ensure successful transition, college persistence, and career readiness. Since 2023, Mr. Karatas has been a part of Ad Astra Research Institute, a nonprofit organization focused on understanding the challenges students face during their transition from one stage of education to another and identifying the most effective ways to support them.
