Ad Astra Research Institute is focused on understanding the challenges that students face during their transition from one stage of education to another, and identifying the most effective ways to support them. We work closely with schools, educators, and community organizations to develop programs that are tailored to the needs of each individual student. Our team is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people, and we are proud to be at the forefront of education research.
Initiatives
We are committed to assisting schools and educational organizations, public & private, in maximizing college and career transition success and to provide findings through the following initiatives:
International Journal of Transition, College and Career Success
A podcast hosted by Dr. Dean Cantu, which examines current issues impacting K-12 and higher education.
A platform for the presentation of new advances and research results in education theory and practice.
Research projects are designed to investigate factors that promote college and career transition success
Ad Astra Research Institute supports graduate student research through awarding scholarships.
Our goal is to help first-generation, low-income students get to and through college and launch into successful careers.

Our Chicago College Program Board is made up of dedicated leaders representing a broad range of fields across the Chicago area. Each board member brings a unique blend of skills, experiences, and perspectives to the table. Together, we share a common mission: to empower students as they transition from high school to college and beyond—helping them build the foundation for successful and fulfilling careers.
