Dr. Cynthia Bice - Biography
Dr. Cynthia J. Bice serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies at Missouri Valley College, a role she assumed in July 2024. Prior to this, she was the inaugural Dean of Faculty and Chief Academic Officer at Miami Dade College – West Campus, where she served from January 2018. Before that, she spent over a decade as a Full Professor and Dean of the School of Education, Human Services, and Human Performance at Lindenwood University.
Dr. Bice holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Lindenwood University, a Master of Science in School and Professional Counseling Education (with a certificate as a psychological examiner) from the University of Central Missouri, and a Doctorate of Education in Executive Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University. She also earned a postdoctoral certificate in Child and School Development from Yale University.
With over 25 years of experience in education—spanning pre-kindergarten through graduate studies—Dr. Bice has served in a variety of roles, from volunteer to educational administrator, including six years as an elected school board director. Prior to her career in education, she worked for 12 years in the logistics and airline industry.
Dr. Bice currently serves on the advisory board for Empowering Youth Leadership and is a consultant for the Coalition Against Human Trafficking. She has also served on the St. Charles United Services Board of Directors and Supply Chain Industry Advisory Board of Greater Miami.
Her contributions to education and leadership have been widely recognized. She was named ICON of Education by Ingram’s Business Magazine (2016) for her efforts in building business partnerships and mentoring programs. In 2014, she became the first higher education administrator to receive the Educator of the Year Award from the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals for developing the state’s first principal mentoring program. She was also honored with the Beyond the Best Award (StreetScape Magazine, 2011) for her work in fostering school partnerships, the Employee of the Year Award from Francis Howell School District (2006), and Teacher of the Year from Rolla High School’s National Honor Society (2001).
In 2019, Dr. Bice co-authored the Handbook of Research on Social Inequality and Education. As the inaugural dean of Miami Dade College – West Campus, she played a pivotal role in establishing the Tesla START program, one of only nine state-of-the-art electric vehicle technician labs in the U.S., achieving a 100% job placement rate across 11 student cohorts. She also led the implementation of the Apple Swift program, which became a national model for Apple Corporation due to its high certification pass rates.
Dr. Bice has been a key driver in creating immersive, experiential learning labs that prepare students for high-demand, high-paying careers. She also spearheaded resource development teams that successfully secured over $4 million in grant funding through five awarded grants.
