Melissa Cheese is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Writing at  Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania—Bloomsburg Campus. She teaches courses in reading, first-year writing, and first-year and honors seminars focusing on mindfulness practice. She earned her Ed.D. in literacy studies from Hofstra University and is a certified mindfulness educator. She has over twenty years’ experience in higher education. Her research interests include using socially and culturally situated literacy practices, metacognition, mindfulness, and other student success, retention strategies, and high impact educational practices to support students’ learning and development.
